DeviceNet is a CAN-based sensor/actuator bus system, which originates from the USA and is now standardised according to EN 50325. DeviceNet specifies a uniform application layer (CIP, Common Industrial Profile), which is also used, for example, for ControlNet. The ODVA (Open DeviceNet Vendor Association) supports manufacturers and users of the DeviceNet system. The certified DeviceNet devices from Beckhoff implement all types of I/O communication and the bus length-dependent data transmission rates from 125 KB to 500 KB.
